Getting Organized

Getting Organized is a life time of discovery for most of us. I found this to be a subject, just about everyone in my life was working on in some shape or form. I also found those that were disorganized to be depressed or at least a little stand offish and self absorbed.

I am a volunteer at church and sell the tickets to all the major speakers that come and speak their. Well one day I had a organizer come to talk and she was starting at 2 PM. To my surprise, I had at least a dozen people trying to buy tickets at 2:15 PM and during that rush I found them to be extremely rude and self centered.

It got to the point where I had to stop selling tickets and ask the group, "Why are you all so rude!". The comment I got back bother me and I found myself finding every path I could to help people in getting organized from then on.

They said to me, we have a right, as we are so dis-organized that we can not help, but be rude. After I put them in their place, I made a vow to myself that I would bring a little organization to those around me and hopefully bring them a little peace and balance.

My First Steps to
Getting Organized

The first thing I thought of was to find as many ways as I could to give tips, tricks, and techniques to them as fast as possible. This became a good start. I gave tips such as...

  • REST, RELAXATION, & WATER
    To have the ability in getting organized I found it essential to get at least 7 hours or more of a good night's sleep, along with half your weight in ounces of water daily. (If you weigh 100 lbs, you would drink at least 50 oz. of water daily) Adequate rest and fluids tonight will help you to be alert, on schedule and effective tomorrow.
  • CREATE A USER FRIENDLY WORK ENVIRONMENT
    Create a work area that you love to be in. This means it should be well equipped, personalized, and pleasant to the eyes. Your work area should be easy to do your daily tasks. It should contain all the necessary supplies and equipment easy to reach or at least organized in an easily accessible area.
  • PUT THINGS AWAY AFTER USING THEM
    Take the seconds it takes to put things back where they belong. Put things back immediately after you're finished with them or if that is hard make a 15-minute appointment on your schedule with yourself to put things away every day before you complete your day.
  • MAKE TWO LISTS A TO DO LIST & A FUTURE THINGS TO DO
    Take control of your time. When you use a to do list it gives you specific tasks that keep you organized and Future list is so that you can place things you want to do on a list so you will not forget them, yet won't spend time now worrying if you are going to do them or not

These are only a few of the simple yet effective tools to keep you organized. They sound easy and are easy to do, yet without them high on your mind they never get accomplished.

Getting organized is something that is important to me and if you know of anyone in your life, you probably say the same thing. Like I stated earlier people that are dis-organized are not happy and I have a desire to bring them to a place where we all are happy and passionate about what we do.
