Building Self Esteem
Is An Inside Job!

I remember building self esteem which changed my life forever. Years ago I had a self esteem problem, people would ask me how I was doing and I would comment...

"You're Lucky!
You only have to put up with me for a few hours!
I'm stuck with me 24 hours every day!"

Can you imagine how my life was going...

  • I hated being with myself.
  • Others were afraid of being with me.
  • I had to pry myself out of bed every morning.
  • I was Depressed ALL THE TIME!

Well I learned how to change my self esteem and want to share with you what I did, just in case you need help building self esteem for yourself.

I discover through this website how your inner self growth working with self esteem can lead to a happier, healthier life by impowering yourself to live and act out your dreams.

How To Begin
Building Self Esteem!

All the therapists and guru's would tell me I needed to look in the mirror and say "I Love You!" but I was lucky to even look in the mirror. I can remember looking in the mirror every morning and saying I hate you why am I stuck with you! So saying "I love You!" was a joke for me.

I really had a hard time so I began by simply saying "I really don't hate you!" and that was hard at first. I worked at it and after a year of trying to say nice things about myself I finally was able and mean it saying...

"Roger I love You!

By reading this far you realize that positive thinking could help increase your self esteem by creating a positive out look at life. But it wasn't even close to the only thing I did in building self esteem. There were many small steps that made a difference in my life.

Building Self Esteem

To increase your self esteem it is a must to believe in yourself, this I call self confidence. Without self confidence in what ever you do and who you are you have no chance of changing.

Self confidence is connected to our self image another small step that is important at how you feel and act. I had extremely low self esteem that gave me a poor image of myself causing me to have really bad social skills which caused others to stay away creating a circle that spiraled down until I crashed and burned.

If you look at self esteem, self confidence, and self image the common link is that we must "Value Ourself" to change. When you value yourself, your abilities and your contribution to the world all increase because you discover your uniqueness and strength.

If you think you can you are right and if you think you can not you are right! So follow the lead from these many different people who were told they could not do it, yet had enough belief in themselves to make a difference in this world. If they can do it so can you!

Anyone Can Make a Difference...

It's Just The Small Steps
That Make That Difference!

Everyone wants that magic bullet that will change everything right away, but I am here to tell you taking these small steps build a strong foundation that assists you in loving yourself.

There are so many more ideas you can use to improve your self esteem but here are a few of them to get you started.

  • Focus on your accomplishments - every morning or evening take your journal and write one or two things you have accomplished that you have even the slightest pride in. Once you list them sit and feel what it felt like to you. Do not judge or devalue it just except it. Taking time focusing on your positive accomplishments will begin building self esteem.
  • Find one thing you like about yourself daily- This was a hard one for me at first so I started with simple things like driving safe, giving my time freely. The more positive thoughts bring much more positive reactions. As you list all the things you like about yourself it becomes harder to find the negative things you use to think about every day in the past.
  • Accept who you are - Discover things that make you, you and tell yourself that you accept those things. Smile and appreciate that they make you unique. Say out loud the things that make you unique telling yourself why you like them.
  • Pay attention to your own wants and needs - Learn to listen to what your body, mind, and heart are telling you. Quietly sit and pay attention to what you want and react to the simple things right away. Listening to your calming music will assist in this exercise.
  • Learn to eat healthy foods - Everyone knows that eating healthy changes how you feel and how you feel will increase your thoughts making a positive result. One of the things many forget is to drink plenty of water. This is one of the most important parts of healthy eating that can make the biggest effect on your life.
  • Exercise or simply move - Moving your body helps you to feel better. I'm not talking about having to be a weight lifter or body builder, simple walking will change your thoughts. I find walking with a question in mind is not just effective in the way I feel I also get a great answer to my question at the same time. I walk at least three times per week and many times I want to do more and do.
  • Learn something new - When you are active in learning you forget to feel sorry for yourself. Learning is a great way to bring new things to life and see positive results right before your eyes.
  • Bring out your talents - Do things that make use of your own special talents and abilities. For instance, if you are good at wood work build something for yourself, family, and friends. If you like animals, go visit them at the human society.
  • Spend time with people or places - Spending time with things that make you feel good about yourself show you your true nature.
  • Do something nice - Smile at someone who looks sad. Say a few kind words to the first person you talk too. Help someone with an unpleasant chore. Send a card daily to the first person you think of each day. Volunteer for a worthy organization.
  • Listen to subliminal programs that contain 3D Sound/Music, emotional affirmations and seem to work fast. Each CD has not only relevant & unique information in building self esteem, it also contains TIPS & Tools to assist you. I like BRIGHT IMAGES as they have a great selection that worked for me.

This is the beginning of taking small steps that will change your life forever. When I was building self esteem these were the things I did and they definitely made a difference in who I am.

Building self esteem meets many of my human needs which made a difference in my entire life. Can you say...

"I Love Myself!"
